If you ever have experience to what I am saying, can you describe how you feel when unnecessary single quote you from a nest post just to get your post less relevant in a different context?
It depends.
When I'm quoted-without-context in a contentious topic, I sometimes get annoyed (it happened to me recently where someone quoted an already-short response of mine, but for some reason decided to keep just the first sentence and the last, and sliced out the middle without leaving any kind of marker).
When I'm quoted-without-context in a friendly topic, I don't mind (because then it's pretty clear that it was probably done only out of a desire to keep things concise).
In general though, I try not to assume that my intuitions about other people's intentions are correct, because I've had too many experiences where I've been shown to be wrong. IRL, whenever I've given someone the benefit of the doubt, and I've sat and spoken with them for a long time (
without trying to confirm what I already suspect), I've almost always walked away from that experience realizing that in some way or another, I had them all wrong, and that I really should stop trusting my
guesses about how other people think and what they're trying to do.
