Futures traders can still trade when the market goes down. You might be referring to those who trade spot. The timing for spot traders is indeed determined when entering a trade; some may pause trading temporarily when the market situation declines. But for futures traders, they take advantage of market volatility to continue making profits.

If you can't keep up with the happenings in this market, much better to get out while you are still profiting. Then, just go back when you feel you have more time to devote in following the trading market.
