It should be that family is more of a priority compared to gambling because they are the main responsibility and cannot be replaced by anything, gambling is only a moment and it cannot be a priority, it is just additional entertainment that should be done at a certain time only, it would be very stupid if someone prioritized gambling compared to their own family.
however, in the case you mentioned, I saw that the man was so stressed by his own wife who kept asking him for money, we can't blame him for completely falling into unhealthy gambling activities because he didn't get the support he needed to think healthily. let's hope that he can get out of the problem.
I agree with that a gambler should prioritize his family first and then gamble. If the family is not functioning properly, it is not possible for the gambler to gamble calmly. It is foolish of him to choose gambling to fulfill his wife's needs. He should have found some other platform to solve his financial problems which he could not do. One mistake of the wife was that a person tried to give her as much as he could according to his ability. If her needs are not fulfilled then both of them will have to discuss about the matter. They can consult on how to earn more money. But he should not pressure her to earn money quickly and give it to him. In this case I think both of them were wrong.
Both sides in that story have responsibility the man shouldn’t have turned to gambling as a way to solve his stress or money problems but at the same time constant pressure at home can push someone into poor decisions especially if they already feel trapped or unsupported.
Family should always come first and both partners need to share the burden instead of blaming or demanding when money is tight communication is what’s missing in most of these situations if the wife had tried to understand his limits instead of pushing for more and if the husband had looked for better ways to cope instead of escaping through gambling the situation might not have gotten that bad. In the end gambling never solves financial stress it only makes it worse but emotional stress and lack of understanding inside the family can easily drive a person there that’s why balance and open conversation are so important especially when money is involved.
