Out of the possible 7 known loaded 1000 BTC coins, only 2 are still intact.

For the 1000 BTC bars, there are still 5 intact across the different models. One was never loaded, Two have 0.001 btc and the other two are still loaded with their respective 1000 btc

So still 4000 BTC in these coins/bars!!

I read with curiosity the original post by Mr Mike Caldwell ‘advertising’ these coins.

I am so pissed that I didn’t even know about bitcoin back then because I would have hands down picked one of these up.  I was already buying gold and just landed a ‘real job’ earlier that year where I had disposable income to burn on ‘wait a gold coin with another investment wrapped inside!!!???’  My question is why did he sell so few?  You would think there would have been a list or he would have sold out like those Ballet blocks Mopar lined up. 😂

Oh hindsight.

It would have been hard for you to pull the trigger.  I was ready to buy one of these myself and nearly did (later I did get one of the unloaded ones).  The 1,000 BTC to load it was doable at the time, not a huge deal.  The price of the gold was a pretty big deal though.  I remember it would have nearly drained my entire stack at the time and you never knew if he would run away with the funds at some point or if the gold was real.  Just before selling gold he was selling tokens from a car wash vendor that everyone was giving away for free so it wasn't like we all knew how it would end up.  The community was paying 1 BTC for 1MH/s perpetual mining bonds back then.  It was the wild west, Bitcoin was barely accepted by anyone for anything, and nobody knew what was going to happen or what to do with the coins they mined.  Everyone was playing hot potato when BTC hit their wallet, hoping they wouldn't get stuck with them if the price fell to $0.01.  Locking up thousands of BTC long term wasn't on many people's radar.

I bought one CAs coin directly from Mike in 2013 and it was still a risk I felt I was taking...I can imagine what it was back in 2011 and for much more money. But too hodl for so long so much money takes strong diamond hands. I can also presume these might be his own coins for his own collection. I know when I made coins or anything for that matter that was loaded I always kept number 1 and 2.
