Do you think it's right to reference to others as a yardstick to evaluate your level of responsible gambling?

That is already a sign of addiction because when you start to measure up with others in their high level gambling, you will involve more to it and that keeps taking your finance down because you are not making profit. If a gambler is making profit, he won't compare what he is losing to others. If you are comparing that, it means you will be comfortable in the loses.

How do you measure yours?

When you start gambling that your earnings begin to be affected.  For example if you were using 3% of your earnings to gamble initially and you increase it to 5% and suddenly it rose to 10% and 20%, you know you are getting off limit and that is irresponsible gambling. Gambling is not suppose to take more than 3-5% of your salary but when it gets to as high as 20%, it means you are being controlled by it and that is being irresponsible.
