It is true that they are being talked about as title contenders in europa league paltform. And we know that villa’s form, squad depth , and experience is good enough this season. But as you said , the europa league is full of surprises. Teams like Roma, leverkusen and even underdog sides can turn things around in a knockout stage. Roma and lyon is also favourit for the title.
Still , if Villa keeps up their current rhythm, they could definitely go far, maybe even lift the trophy. It will be fascinating to see how they handle the pressure of being favorites.

What do you expect from Aston villa other than impressive performance? They're considered to be the favourite team to win this tournament and they are walking on the direction to achieve that. Basel has been so poor lately but it was still a massive result for Villa to get the victory and snatch all three points away from home. Aston villa is now level on points with Lyon and FC Midtjylland with just goal difference separating the three teams. AS Roma should be contending for the title too but it seems they are not being serious. They are currently occupying the tenth position with twelve points and three points behind top contenders.
