Gambler as a term used to have a bit more novelty to it. It was kinda of an outlaw status, doing something not admired but kind of part of an underground culture that could be seen as cool but some. Nowadays anyone could be a gambler though. So it's not a big deal to be a gambler. It could be an app on your phone and you doing it from your bed. There's nothing too special about it since it had become so commercial.
